John Hunt received his bachelor’s degree the Eastman School of Music and his master’s degree from Catholic University. He studied with Loren Glickman, Leonard Sharrow, K. David Van Hoesen, Arthur Weisberg, and has given many performances as an orchestral musician, soloist, and chamber musician, including serving as principal bassoon for the Naples Philharmonic, Aspen Music Festival, Colorado Music Festival, Tallahassee Symphony, and United States Army Symphony Orchestras, the Orquesta Sinfonica del Palacio de Mineria (Mexico City), Monadnock Music Festival, Bowdoin College Summer Music Festival, and the West Virginia Symphonette. He is a former member of National Reed Trio, Laureate Quintet, Buffalo Blaser Quintet, and the Dorian Wind Quintet. He has performed as a soloist with the Louisville Symphony, Arlington Symphony, Southeastern Music Center Festival, and International Festival-Institute at Round Top Orchestras. He was a faculty member at West Virginia University (1980-88) and Florida State University (1988-91) before coming to Eastman in 1991. He taught at Eastman until his retirement in 2016.
